Zandvoort's Bunkers
During WWII the German military built what became known as The Atlantic Wall - a series of coastal defences stretching along the coast of Europe for many hundreds of miles, from France up to The Netherlands, Denmark and into Scandinavia.
Zandvoort's location on the coast made it a prime location for bunkers to be built. Some were used to house guns, others as living quarters. Over the years many of Zandvoort's bunkers have been destroyed or dismantled. However, some still lie there covered in deep sand.
